Experience

Erin Speyer brings years of criminal defense experience to The Speyer Group. A graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, Erin has dedicated her career to defending the rights of individuals facing criminal charges throughout Southwest Florida.

Prior to founding The Speyer Group, Erin served as an attorney for Florida's Guardian ad Litem program, advocating for the best interests of children in the court system. She also served as an Assistant Public Defender in Florida's 19th Judicial Circuit, where she gained extensive trial experience handling a wide range of criminal cases and developed a reputation for aggressive, effective representation.

Michael Berg is a skilled litigator and negotiator who has successfully represented hundreds of clients in criminal matters across the 12th Judicial Circuit. A graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, Michael brings a unique perspective to criminal defense shaped by his experience on both sides of the courtroom.

Before joining The Speyer Group, Michael served as both an Assistant State Attorney and an Assistant Public Defender in Florida's 19th Judicial Circuit. This dual prosecution and defense background gives him invaluable insight into how the state builds its cases, allowing him to identify weaknesses and develop highly effective defense strategies. Michael is also the author of the Florida DUI Defense Playbook, a comprehensive legal practice guide covering all aspects of DUI defense in Florida.

Maria Torres

Maria Torres is an Executive Assistant with a strong bilingual background and a proven record of supporting fast-paced professional teams. Born and raised in Mexico as the youngest of four, Maria completed her education from elementary school through college in Mexico and began studying English at age eight — an early commitment that shaped her passion for language and communication.

Maria earned her degree in Speech Therapy from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos and spent several years working in roles centered on care, organization, and communication. In 2017, she relocated to Florida, where she built a solid foundation in operations and client service while working for a painting company for nearly six years. She later transitioned into the legal field as a legal assistant, bringing her attention to detail, professionalism, and bilingual skills to support attorneys and clients.

Fluent in Spanish and English, Maria is dedicated to delivering dependable administrative support and helping clients feel informed and comfortable throughout the legal process.

G.I. Medina, Investigator for The Speyer Group

G.I. Medina

Investigator

G.I. Medina is a licensed private investigator and contracted Due Process Investigator with the Florida Justice Administration Commission (JAC). Through this role, she provides critical investigative support to The Speyer Group's criminal defense cases, including homicide investigations, fraud and theft analysis, self-defense case reconstruction, background verifications, and witness interviews.

Medina's investigative career began with over a decade of law enforcement service in New York City, including assignments in the Special Operations Division on Rikers Island and at the PSA 2 Precinct in Brooklyn. After relocating to Florida, she continued in public safety with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and Charlotte Correctional Institution, where she supervised high-risk inmates in a maximum-security environment.

Her experience also includes intellectual property enforcement as a field investigator for the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America, working alongside the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Tampa Police Department. She was awarded a Gold Record by the RIAA in recognition of her contributions to enforcement operations.
